Quick release for large lens on monopod

I bought one to try but sent it back as the Z8 & Z800mm felt inherently unstable unless you keep one hand on the 'gimbal'. The Wimberley mono gimbal is the best option and can be made better by replacing the screw clamp with a lever clamp. I also use a tilt-head with lever clamp on my lightweight monopod when walking some distance
That's very helpful, thanks very much! "Gadgets" often promise more than they deliver and your advice will save me the disappointment of finding that out for myself! 🙂

Colin Brister (the inventor) uses it for both wildlife and sports very successfully but since trying it I have found that I can shoot with my Z800mm handheld most of the time and I carry it on a Cotton Carrier G3 vest.

What I have settled on is using the iFootage monopod with the option of folding out the feet and a Desmond DMH-2 tilt head with quick release. I can remove the lens plate from the head or remove the head from the monopod using the iFootage quick release mechanism.

What I like about the iFootage Cobra 2 C180-II is that with one hand I can loosen the monopod and adjust its height to provide a better support for photographing critters up in the trees. Not a lightweight setup but much lighter than a tripod and gimbal head and easier to carry around in the field.
