I too was just going to ask; given that colour has got to be nasty tasting, at leastI assume the color warns birds that he is poisonous? Great shots of an apparently rare butterfly.

They are strange looking. When I saw them, there were about 6, I presumed the butterfly they morphed into would be red, or at least reddish, not black/blue like the Swallowtail they become.I too was just going to ask; given that colour has got to be nasty tasting, at least

Didn't you ever see "red" licorice in a store when you were a kid and looked for such things? Keep an eye out, sure it's still around. Exact color as this catepillar! Thank you.
