Saw Whet Owl

Going through some photos and this little guy had kind of a busy background; tried to make it less distracting, but there's often branches behind a bird and things. Thanks for any feedback. Is the branch behind him (branches) too much? I did lower texture and saturation a bit.

To me the branch is not an issue. Birds, especially forest owls, live among branches -- as long as the branch is behind the owl and not "growing" out of its head it's fine.

It appears a little bit 3d because of the smoothing of the bark on the tree in comparison to the sharp detail in the bird. Not that it's bad, it just stands out and seems a bit odd. Other than that, I would just crop in from the left a tad and get the bird more centered. Overall, it's a nice capture, and the owl is beautiful.

I think it's a great shot. The subject is in a sharp focus and all the attention of the viewer is on the owl and not anything else.
