Short-eared owl, flyby

Came across this individual as I was heading back to my car to call it a day late morning, The morning had not been very productive at all and then he/she makes an appearance. Did two circles around a small pond and then dove directly into the reeds where he/she remained.

Great set Jose, love it when you can catch them looking straight at you. Have you seen or captured a wing-flap with them this year, it always a unique shot when you do catch that action?

Yeah I was hoping for more frontal shots but he was circling the pond from left to right is he only looked directly at me a couple of times. Would be cool to get a wing-flap, would love to see that. We don't get very many SEOs in this particular area, this is only the second individual that I've seen this year. We did have one year where there were numerous birds flying around, they even landed on a photographers tripod at one point but that was some years ago. I think there will be many more this year judging by the amount of Snowy owls already reported in our area.

Very nice!

Excellent! Short-eared owls are a favorite of mine and just love to watch them fly around and interact. Our season here in Ohio is just getting started but hoping for a big time invasion soon.

What do you mean by a wing-flap? The fourth photo has the owl's wings pointing down. Is this what is meant by wing-flap? If not, could you please provide a photo illustrating it? Cheers
