Smaller DNG size with Topaz/LR denoise

Hi,

Has anyone found a way to reduce the size of the DNGs generated by either Topaz Photo AI or the latest LR denoise? I have an A7RIV and the DNG is 200-250MB.

I tried cropping the image first in LR and then exporting it as a DNG in hopes that cropped image file size would be smaller. To my surprise, no, the size of the DNG is the same whether it's a full image or cropped.

Ideally, either in Topaz or LR the image would be cropped first, saved as a smaller one and then all de-noising and adjustments would be applied. I'm wondering if anyone came up with a workflow to accomplish that.

That's what I did in LR but it did not reduce the size of the DNG

RAW and DNG files are similar, and to reduce file size I believe you will have to convert to another format such as TIFF, perform the crop and then delete the DNG when happy with the final TIFF product. I would however suggest, memory is cheap.....
