Still trying to get the Goldfinch to land within reach but in the meantime this Song Sparrow has been a very willing subject.

Rainy morning with good soft shooting light when this Black-Headed Grosbeak flew in and perched near our feeders before coming in for some seed.

Have been seeing the House Finches around for a few weeks now but the Cassin's Finches just started showing up in the yard in the last couple of days. Another gloomy day but was happy to see this male Cassin's Finch come in and pose for a bit.

Got a call this afternoon from a friend telling me he's got a lot of Bullock's Orioles and Western Tanagers coming in to his feeders and asking if I wanted to come over to shoot for a bit. I jumped on the opportunity and visited his awesome backyard birding setup with a bunch of feeders, some well placed perches and a two person blind a dozen feet away. It didn't take long for the birds to start coming in to the feeders. Great reminder of what can be done even in a tiny yard with decent habitat and well stocked feeders.
