Rained hard this morning but as things cleared a lot of birds showed up in the yard including this immature Chipping Sparrow that was kind enough to pose on one of my favorite perches.

Sweet picture! It's an immature White-crowned Sparrow. Chipping Sparrow doesn't have dark lores.

Somewhat uncommon in my area

I spent a morning sitting quietly near a Lark Sparrow (Chondestes grammacus) flock's feeding area. After a couple of hours they tested the minimum focus distance :)

Lark Sparrow: "Is this my good side? How about this one? Maybe this is better."
Me: "Dude, they're ALL your good side"

This Cardinal stayed on the edge of the birdbath for a LONG time while I waited to try and catch a flight shot (which of course I missed) 😆

Nice composition and colours.
I've been burst shooting and filling the buffer to capture the launch. It's odd how mostly they dive to the side and downward and the image isn't worth keeping.

Picture of a scrappy male Indigo Bunting molting and reverting back to non-breeding plumage. They are incredible when in full mating colors but I thought it was interesting (despite the terrible and harsh light) to show him in that transformation phase before they head back south for the winter.

House Finch. In my house no less, well in the backyard Sunflower patch to be sure.

Nikon Z6II with Canon 600mm F4 and 1.4 extender. Early morning breakfast. On the second image I clipped the tail, darn!
