We don't have any snow and it's been da--ed hot for January so I went out behind the house and gathered a handful of fallen leaves from the woodland. The leaves went in a white basin so I could sort through them, finding dozens of small roundworms and two of these springtails, possibly Tomocerus vulgaris, which are 1.5-2mm long -
