During our trip to the Atlantic Provinces of Canada, we visited Twillingate, Newfoundland. Although it was very late in the "iceberg season", we hoped to see a large, impressive iceberg. We only got to see ONE iceberg - but it was a skyscraper!

For those of you that would like to see a bit more, please watch Justin's video..... HERE......

We were about 3 miles off shore, when I spotted the tip of the iceberg showing above the heavy fog. The iceberg was still about 2 miles away! I highly recommend Prime Berth tours with Captain Dave!

#2 As we approached the iceberg, another tour boat was just leaving. I thought it gave an excellent sense of the size of the iceberg. Thankfully the fog was starting to dissipate.

#3 We were able to circle this single iceberg a couple of times while the sun was shining and the scene was clear of fog.

#7 As we were leaving, the fog was again enshrouding the iceberg...

Beautiful images. Been to Newfoundland several times in my younger years. It is a fantastic place. Here’s two I saw at the inlet to St.John’s. These were taken on Kodachrome 64.

Beautiful images. Nicely done!
Those are very high in the WOW factor!!!
Impressive Berg. Great captures, Karen, it would be interesting to know what event caused those dark layers near the top. Volcano eruption maybe?
Stunning Shots, well done Karen!
Really appreciate the comments! We spent about 4 weeks touring New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island. This iceberg was the biggest thrill of the trip! Hope you watched the video!!!! Justin uses a pro camcorder and does full narration and includes music. The owner of the tour service uses it to show folks what a great tour service he offers!

Karen, those are fantastic! Really really nice.

Fantastic images, Karen. Visiting Newfoundland for iceberg watching is on the bucket list for my wife and I, and your images just made me more determined.
It's also scary to think that there's twice as much iceberg under the water than what we see above.

Thank you so much! I highly recommend Prime Berth tours with Captain Dave. He is the owner and a hoot to be around! All my shots were taken while bobbing around on the ocean in his boat! Do check out Justin's video.....I think you will really enjoy it!

impressive images of the icebergs. Can't chose a favorite, love both the ones with clear sight and the foggy ones.
Can feel a little envy, need to go all the way south some day.
Thank you! At first only the very tip of the iceberg could be seen. Then the fog cleared. Then as we left it was a totally different experience as the fog again engulfed the iceberg!

Second to last photo is mesmerizing !
Thank you, Gary!!!! I pre-planned our 2 month trip almost day by day...but adjusted our schedule to take this trip! I simply didn't know until we got there if we would be able to see any icebergs. It was SOOOOO worth the 2.5 hr trip each way on bumpy roads that allowed only about 25 mph...... TIMES FOUR! One trip in and out to check things out. Another trip at day break to take the trip. But sooooo worth it! Hubby was dubious....but in the end exhilerated by the experience.

His video is EXCELLENT!

What a sight to have seen in person. Including the boat for a sense of scale help give perspective. Wow!
Absolutely! I was standing up in our fast moving boat taking shots. The tour boat was so small in front of the iceberg that I didn't see it until it had passed the iceberg. I quickly scanned the shots I had just taken and was relieved to find I had created a sharp image with the tourist boat in front of the iceberg!
