The male Superb Fairy Wren was briefly on the garden fence this morning and was showing his progression to his non-breeding plumage.

Seeing a family of 6 nearly every day at the moment, the images above are quite different in shape compared with this 2021 image of what may be the same bird in full breeding plumage.
