Tamron Lenses for Sony E Mount

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

For the Sony shooters out there, what (if any) Tamron lenses would you recommend as a substitute for the more expensive native Sony glass?
Thanks
Many of the so-called Sony Native are manufactured by Tamron. Sony controls Tamron and is a major shareholder. Tamron makes fine optics, and no surprise, seamless integration with Sony bodies.

The 28/75 f:2.8 G2 is my walk around lens and it is stellar. The only ‘drawback” is that it is 28mm (and more like 29mm really) rather than 24mm which can be a deal breaker for some. But considering the price, very compact size, light weight and optical quality, it’s a gem. For my street photography, it’s on the camera 90% of the time.

Sony owns 12% of Tamron and is not even the largest share holder, that’s far from control. But you are correct, they have many co-development, manufacturing and technology sharing agreements that make Sony their closest business partner.
‘Sony though maintains limitations on Tamron lenses, like 15 fps max and no TC. But otherwise, the integration is quite seamless as you pointed out.

The Tamron 100-400 for the Nikon Z mount gets decent press when you consider that it is only about £700 v £2400 for the Z mount one. Only downside is that it does not come with a tripod foot which is about £100. it is lighter so maybe the trpod foot is not needed so much?
