This tawny owl has his home in a beech tree at the bottom of a slope which means you can get level with the bird from higher up the slope. However it's then a bit far away. As an experiment I added the 2x TC to the 600m F/4 TC with the inbuilt 1.4x TC engaged. The lens sits on a heavy tripod with a Sachtler video head and an extra brcket supports the front of the lens. VR off and wireless remote to eliminte any vibrations. I am actually pleasantly surprised by the quality of the image. At full resolution the individual hairs on the feathers near the eye are visible. Prcessed to emphasise the late sunlight mood.
