I have been reading a lot of articles and videos on using the TC on the Sony 70-200 II which is a really outstanding closeup lens. The images below are a brief test of the lens with the 2x TC (it was 92 here this afternoon!). I have to admit I'm a bit astounded by how well it did. No doubt the 1.4 or native lens is "better"...but who would know unless you compare the images side by side.

It's a great combo. I used it extensively with good results until I switched to the OM1, but doing a similar thing with it using a 40-150 f2.8 lens with 2x converter.
Nice thing with either combo is you can photograph bugs and birds as needed meaning you only have to take one lens, or stick a macro in your pocket. :)
