The World's Most Endangered Cat (2015) --- The Iberian Lynx.

Great pictures! I spent a week in the same area looking for these cats, (with another forum member) with no luck, very envious. We spent a day in a hide photographing Vultures, when we came out, there were fresh Lynx tracks behind the hide:mad:
Thanks Dave, I'll be going out into that area again this coming year (covid allowing) to get some Imperial Eagle shots---I think this company now has a Lynx hide, but apparently very early in the year, when the parents are bring food back for their kittens, is the best time to spot them.

Thanks Marc, Spain is now very pro active regarding its endangered wildlife--a complete "volte face" from 30 years ago when hunting was prevalent and done by most of the male population during the weekend ! I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to get pics of their brown bears and was due to go to Andalucia last spring to photograph Spanish Imperial Eagles (also an endangered endemic species), but covid put paid to that--next year hopefully.

Just finished watching a program on Nat Geo Wild "Wild Europe" about the brown bear rehab program in Italy & Greece, most interesting. Some great work going on in Southern Europe. (y)

BTW, loved your aerial shots in South Luangwa (I was there in 2017), would you now use a drone for this type of photography ? David.
Not a big fan of drones to be honest, whilst they have their uses, I'm kinda old fashioned.........I still like to be connected to that button. ;)

Saw that Wild Europe prog recently, and its interesting to see the efforts going into rehab and re-wilding projects from European national governments, and whilst they are very commendable, I am certain a part of their thinking involves expansion of their ecotourism portfolio----perfectly acceptable as long as it protects the animals and their habitat .
Ref. your comment on drones --I agree, for some programmes (like Russia from above ) they are invaluable and relatively unobtrusive, but for hands on wildlife photographers they are too impersonal.

Agreed. I would like to own one because I see the potential in them, but nothing beats being up in the air yourself looking down. Haven't done the microlite thing yet, but a hot air balloon trip is awesome.

We went in late April and came to the conclusion we were a month or two late(y)

I have looked at 3 companies myself for early next year, Photo Logistics, Naturoots & Iberian Lynxland. Do you have any feedback on any of these. I used Iberian Lynxland a few years ago, through Naturetrek. Any info would be great.

Hi again Dave, I haven't used any of those , but was booked in with Skua Nature for this May past---of course this didn't happen but I have deferred it to next year. Therefore I haven't any feedback on them as yet but had very good reports from people who had used them. The Spanish site in Andalusia is called Alpasin. Regards David.
