Tile Grain Elevator, SW Kansas

Returning from California, traveling through SW Kansas, came across this old grain elevator. At first I thought it was made from cement blocks, but with a bit more on-line research found that it is much more likely a tile composition of some kind. Brick & tile apparently was used in some & I suppose other mixtures hoping to reduce fire hazard. Just thought it was somewhat unique!

Thanks again Robert. These tile elevators are really interesting, at least to me. Did a 500 mile tour yesterday with my wife down through south central Kansas & north central Oklahoma, spotting a couple more. They’re out there, takes a bit to find them, but interesting buildings.
