I wanted to see if anyone uses topaz sharpen AI and if they do, if you have experienced any glitching such as the program not opening. I typically don’t use sharpen AI all that often and primarily use Denoise. I’ve been on the phone several times with them over the last few weeks and have even had them do screen share to no avail. If I go back to a previous version it works OK but then I lose some of the functionality. It’s the only one of the three programs that does this and it does it whether I’m using it as a plug-in or a standalone editor. They have given me a beta version of photo AI that contains all three programs in one that I downloaded this evening and I hope that will correct the problem. For what it’s worth I am running a 27 inch 2020 iMac with an Intel processor.

I haven't had any issues. You might try deleting the program from your computer and downloading a fresh copy.

So they have an all in one coming out? That would sure be amazing!
We’ve reinstalled several times and yes it has three in one. I messed with it with one photo and it seems to do good but that was sending a photo directly into it. I’m not sure if it installed plugins but I’ll check whenever I get back on there.

I experienced problems with both Sharpen AI and Gigapixel. I installed them on a different computer (another iMac) and both work just fine on that machine. I'm not certain, but do believe that the small amount of available hard drive space on the one computer is causing the issue.

I have tons of space on this one and it’s the only one of the three that does it. It works fine with version 3.6 which is what’s on there now. The think it’s possibly the model files causing it. It’s aggravating whenever you go to use it and have to make 5-7 attempts to get the files to go thru

Have you contacted their customer service? I've found them to be reasonably quick in answering email questions.

Occasionally it will happen to me as well. No consistency about when it happens. I use them as a Lightroom plugin.
That's what I do as well and sometimes it might go 3-4 days with no issues, then can't even open the program as a plugin or standalone.

I’m using it on an even older iMac and fortunately I’m not having any of the issues you are. I love the idea of them rolling them all into one application.
Yeah me too. It would be nice having everything in one place and not having to go back-and-forth two or three times if needed. I am sure it probably won’t have all the functionality but it will be interesting to try it out.

Oh, yes,... the model files. Since I downloaded them, my Sharpen AI adjusted photos are terrible. (Some human skin in my photos looks like it is from a fish.) I have not had the opportunity to look into this further, but now that you mention it, I certainly will look into a way to get rid of the latest model files I've downloaded this week.)

It’s just strange that only one program of the three has an issue. Hopefully the new program will be better.

I've honestly felt that AI sharpen has gotten worse over the last couple of updates so I'm glad I'm not alone in that. I've begun to use DeNoise more in place of it.

I think denoise is a better program all in all but on some things such as insects I find sharpen does a better job at the end of processing. I would say I use denoise alone 85% of the time. I will say one thing about sharpen AI, The masking in that program is incredibly accurate.

So far the beta program really isn't working out. It's insanely slow and for some reason the images don't return in order and are like 4 stops overexposed. I'm going to keep messing with it but for now I'm not too thrilled. There also is no masking feature in the sharpen section but that will most likely be added in the final version.

Sorry to hear that but it is a BETA so you kind of have to expect it to have some issues. I'd glad that they are thinking about combining them together. That is the biggest issue I've had with many of these plug in companies. Hopefully Nik gets that memo too.

The exposure thing is what's throwing me for a loop. I don't understand how the program can change exposure.

As you can see it’s pretty simple at this point.

It also does sharpening independently of Denoise, so in this version you don’t get the included sharpening like you do in Denoise AI.

I sure hope they do get that figured out before they roll it out as a production issue. I have found the last couple updates, especially with the DeNoise product have not been major improvements and in some ways a step backward. The biggest issue I have with DeNoise is if I send it a 15mb jpg file, it returns a 7mb jpg file. The files look good but they are half size and it is consistently half size. I do not have that issue with sharpen.
This new product of combining all of them into one could be interesting if they get it sorted out.

Hope they can get an update to you.

Jeff
