Beautiful. What type of kingfisher and where in the world did you shoot this?
Koos, the Europeans called their Kingfisher Kingfisher, that is this blue one. They did not know there were other KF's I think, when this species thing started with Carl Linnaeus in the 1700's . This is what Wiki says :
The common kingfisher, also known as the Eurasian kingfisher and river kingfisher, is a small kingfisher with seven subspecies recognized within its wide distribution across Eurasia and North Africa. It is resident in much of its range, but migrates from areas where rivers freeze in winter.
 
Thanks, Callie. Pity they don’t have the variety you see in Africa. But then the variety in North America is also limited to one in Canada and three in the USA and Mexico, including the Canadian one which occurs in all three countries.

Hi sir, you are right & they are other species like magpie king fisher (black & white) as I saw in Israel and a big one with a large beak , I try to send you some shots
