The males were competing for the attention of the females and at times the juveniles crowded out the scene with
their futile practicing antics!............very comical.
Certainly not possessing the beautiful colours of the adult males, but every bit as entertaining!

Atherton Tablelands- Far Nth QLD.

"Starting young"
Male Riflebirds start honing their mating display skills from a very early age, this juvenile was trying to impress a young female above who was having none of it!

Spectacular. Interesting use of 1/500th & 1/1000. Seems like many BIF shots are faster. All great shots. Second is my favorite.

Thanks @MalcolmP

Have found S/S of anything above 1/250s are acceptable @ times, as these birds are not using fast flapping wing beats, they will often leave them open for many seconds as they progress through their display, then @ times flash their wings from side to side as if they were a cloak, very spectacular and @ times very comical.
