Viewfinder darkens when connecting SB800

Hello,
I'm not sure if it is an issue with setting or if it is a known issue.
When connecting my SB-800 speedlight to my Z-8 and turning the speedlight on, the viewfinder (or screen) darkens in a way that it is hard to see the subject. Pictures are exposed correctly though.
Would be glad to hear if anyone has expeinced this and has a solution.
