While in Nairobi in mid-July, we visited the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. This organization's mission is "the protection of wildlife and the preservation of habitats". In the meantime they rescue orphaned and injured elephants. They have also rescued a baby rhino (Raha) who is shown below along with several elephants. The people who work with these animals are amazing and the animals get very attached to them, as you may imagine. The Trust has several other sites it uses in a graduated way to re-introduce the animals into the wild. It's not the Mara, but it was a very rewarding experience.
This is Raha, an orphaned rhino.
And a whimsical farewell
