You don't buy a 40 year old adapted Helios 44 to shoot it at f/8. I absolutely love the wacky backgrounds this thing produces wide open. In a world where the Z9, A1, and R# exist, it feels really good to wrangle this thing onto a DSLR and experiment.

I haven’t been to Ajo in many years. I typically try to go to Organ Pipe Nat’l monument every few but…Seems like Ajo has a lot to offer for photography. I see you’re from Albuquerque…I highly recommend the Chiricahua Mountains, Portal, AZ near the AZ/NM border for bird photography if you route takes you past there.
