Well-intended people do stupid things and most of them aren't photographers. So the State must step in to make it safe for all.

Interesting, i see no problem with the last few posts and didn't see this as straying from the topic as the original post is about people acting like Karen's and other problematic ways. šŸ¤·
Karen responded to Karen-ism. The thread wondered over to where humanity was devolving, and away from photography In the last few comments.

I try not to make commentary on the human condition in these posts. I will say that last fall we were at the Smoky Mountains during the elk rut. I was amazed at the number of people who tried to walk up to rutting bull elk with cell phones trying to get photos one even was trying to get a "selfie". Rangers spent more time herding people away from the elk than doing anything else. Fortunately, I didn't see any elk stomp tourists into strawberry jelly.

I did strike up conversations with a coupe of the folks when I had the opportunity. Mostly they just had no idea how dangerous 800 pounds of testosterone fueled dagger sharp tines and razor sharp hooves can be. What I saw mainly wan't people wanting to do bad things but more people who had no idea what they were doing was dangerous for them and for the elk.

People's behavior around young wildlife leads to restrictions at Bombay Hook

It's a sure sign of spring: wildlife having babies.

However, this annual miracle of nature was becoming too much of a "tourist attraction" at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge east of Smyrna. The actions of some visitors around an adult female fox and her baby foxes (known as "kits") have led to temporary restrictions.

Management of the refuge said Wednesday that the foxes have drawn an "extensive number" of visitors to the Bear Swamp Loop. Some of them have been blocking the main road, parking illegally, and setting up lawn chairs to try to see and photograph the foxes.

There have also been reports of people blocking the mother from returning to the kits, and even attempts to lure the foxes with dog toys.

At least one accidental death of a fox has been reported. According to a social media post from Coastal Delaware National Wildlife Refuges in late March, a mother fox was trying to escort its young kit off the road back to safety as people stopped in their cars, but the baby fox ran under a stopped car and was struck and killed as the driver started to move.

Temporarily, Bear Swamp Loop is off-limits to motor vehicles, cyclists and hikers. The action was taken for the protection of the foxes as well as to prevent any visitors from being injured by vehicular traffic - or by wildlife that may become defensive or angry and go on the attack.

Bombay Hook also offered this guidance when encountering wildlife while visiting a refuge:

1. Give wildlife their space. At least two car lengths.

2. If you stop, pull off the road. Don't stop in the road.

3. Don't stop right next to the wildlife if they are right next to the road. They could wind up under a car.

4. Don't speed on the refuge. Don't get or be in a hurry on the refuge.

5. Stay on the road or trails.

"Remember why you came here. To slow down and reconnect with nature. Not to put nature in peril," their statement said.
I had a professor of philosophy once mention this to me, make of it what you will he said, nothing wrong in what he said, it seems logical, i know i am ignorant as i cant know everything.

"Sadly the world has only two types of people, the ignorant or the stupid, ignorance can be remedied with education, information or good leadership, we then become less ignorant, sadly stupid will always be stupid"

Unfortunately the wold has far to much greed, therefor wild life and the environment as well as innocent people always suffer the consequences.

I'd say the instagram type "influencers" and wanna-bes. Also the crowd who takes their kids and doesn't wrangle them.
Destructive Photo taken,

Social media does so so so much harm to wild life and nature environments, we see endless people from many form overseas step over the small fence surrounding a bed of paper daisy flowers planted and cared for in our botanical garden, they lay flat on their back to surround them selves in flowers then have a photo taken, the flowers are damaged after a week the environment is fully flattened and wrecked, it happens each year.

That Wānaka Tree New Zealand

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/That_Wānaka_Tree

I was up at 4 am doing some morning mist and sunrise photography with the mountains in the back ground with a tip of snow, misty water a little fog here and there, myself and a shooting partner were abiding respectfully to all needed.

8 am the coaches started arriving one after the other, a few of the phone brigade walked out in the then knee deep water stood in front of the tree for selfies while on the bank were 20 or so photographers doing the right thing, then these few started to climb the tree doing damage.

I asked the coach driver to do something, he said, no way these overseas tourists they pay my wages Bro, and the local authority's are screaming for tourism, i asked why not put a fence or barrier up, he said then all the photographers wont come, so i said it seems nothing is going to change, No Bro he said hasn't yet, i got to go Bro i have another load of tourists from overseas to pick up after this lot.

Where to from here i said, he replied your guess is as good as mine, wait till the tree is wrecked then they will spend a fortune probably bringing in another one LOL.
