Your Tripod(s) as a Modular System

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Another main reason why I use Leofoto system, together with their quality and innovations.

It's perfectly feasible to build a bespoke tripod of interchangeable legs and columns etc. Or lengthen your Leofoto monopod, for example.

Previously, Sirui were popular in southern Africa until the main agency Landscapegear switched to Leofoto

The best setup I have found is with Feisol. I bought their CT-3272 tripod for $600 which includes an excellent carry case, and I also bought the quick level base adapter for $84 that goes on and off the legs in under a minute. I also added the Feisol Center Column Kit for $63. The center column kit is not geared and is much larger diameter than standard tripods with center columns and so when raised by 6 inches it can hold a 15 lb lens and camera load with perfect stability. Photographing animals in the trees I need a much greater working height and the center column provides it for these situations.

For $747 I have a standard tripod that converts to a quick leveling one for landscapes and panoramas and a tall trip for wildlife in the trees or high up on a hillside. That is less than what my Gitzo and RRS tripods cost me and with them there was no carry case only a carboard box.
