Z6lll or OM 1 mark ll

I've used both systems, used to be deep into an E-M1X with the 1.2 Pro lenses, the 300 Pro, the 40-150 Pro, 7-14 Pro.....

The Nikon lenses blow the Oly stuff out of the water. The difference in quality between my 400/4.5 and Z9 in DX mode vs my E-M1X and 300/4 Pro was shocking. Not even close. And the 1.8S primes all make the Oly 1.2 Pro's look old and broken. A Z6(v1) with a 50 1.8S is just such a better combination than the OM + 25 1.2

I'm not saying you can't get good images out of the OMD, but at a technical level, it leaves alot to be desired compared to cheaper Nikon glass.

The 600/6.3PF on a Z6III vs the 300/4 Pro on an OM would be a bloodbath.
I have used the Olympus system alongside my Nikon 45 MP ML system - in case at age 82 the day arrives when I have to trade down for medical reasons to save weight.

I have not found differences of anything like the levels you describe; neither have numerous pros who use the OM system.

There are differences - though pre the D810 nothing in the Nikon system could achieve 4000 LW/PH.
Many found the maximum around d 3600 LW/PH with 24 MP Nikon bodies enough for a very good A2 print.

One recent test I have seen for a medium format lens tested on a 100 MP Hasselblad body achieved 8,500 LW/PH in the centre - which some could compare to a "bloodbath" to even a 60 MP 35 mm format which so far does not seem to have achieved 6000 LW/PH.

It is true Hasselblad do not make an equivalent 24x36 600mm format lens for those who can afford 100 MP medium format.
This aside the image resolution difference between Olympus OM and the Z6 III (that I own) should be distinctly smaller than between Nikon 45 MP and Hasselblad 100 MP.

For significant cropping my Z6 III looses much more than my Z 8 for sports shooting though current AF seems ahead of Nikon Z8/9 though probable OM is comparable to a D850.

OM 20 MP should not loose much resolution compared to the Z6 III 24 MP and in bright sunlight where 9 stops DR is enough to encompass the whitest whites to dark blacks in shadow there should not be problems - though my last comparison was 6 months ago pitching OM against the Z8 and Nikon 180-400.

I shot a D500/500pf prior to moving to OM Systems. I have several shots printed on my wall from both the D500/500pf and the OM-1 mark 1/300f4. There is not much difference but to my eye the OM-1/300f4 is sharper.

As an aside, I also have OM-1 mark 1/100-400 shots printed. Again, the difference is not great but the D500/500pf appear sharper to me.

My conclusion: When you need to shed weight the sub-four-pound OM-1/100-400 is a strong consideration. You give up some IQ but not much.
