Selling used gear

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I considering moving up to a Z7ii and I wonder what anyone here has found as the best place to sell your used Nikon cameras and lenses.
I sold a few things to members here and the rest of it via Facebook market place and Facebook pages that focus on camera listings and some specific to Nikon. It was very easy and didn’t pay any fees. Nothing I listed took more than a week to sell and I did a full system change last year.

When you sold items on Facebook Market place how did you arrive at the price(s) you were asking

I looked at other ads, I looked at KEH and others to see what pricing and availability there was. I didn’t go high but I did fair prices and everything sold fast. I see so many people want the same or more than a dealer like KEH and take months to sell if they ever do. With a dealer you can use a CC and they have a return policy. I don’t offer those so priced a little under and never had an issue selling fast. I didn’t want to spend weeks or months dealing with each ad.

I purchased two 300PFs and a D-500 from contributors on this site and two d-500's from KEH. I sold my d-720's and Sigma 150-600c to KEH. In general, the contributors on this site know the relative value of used equipment. They received more than selling to KEH while I paid less but did not get a warranty.

I’ve always traded my old for new at Wex .. uk….usually their prices are ok. They actually paid me more for one camera as it was in better condition than I’d indicated. Used them 15+ years.

I have used fredmiranda for buying and selling used cameras and lenses. At this point in time there is a flood of F-mount cameras and lenses hitting the market and so I recently sold 4 lenses to MPB.com. I like that one enters the gear one wishes to sell and they provide you with an itemized quote and you can decide which to sell. The quote was about 15% lower than if I sold them myself and I decided it was worth it to put them all in a box and use the shipping label provided by MPB and get them on their way.

Zelle is great for expensive items sold on Craigslist where the buyer and seller meet face to face.

eBay is to be avoided as a seller and as a buyer. Too much fraud and neither eBay or Paypal are of any use when this happens as I have personnaly experienced.

What do you have for sale?

I am changing to Z9 and have the following items for sale:
Nikon D850 - $1900 (~20,000 shutter count in excellent condition)
Nikon 70-200mm f/4 G - $550 (Like new)
Nikon 85mm f/1.4 G - $800 (Excellent)
Nikon Micro 105mm f/2.8 G - $350 (Excellent)
Please let me know if you are interested.
Thanks,
Clarence

I've used PayPal for years, simple and safe. Just a note if the buyer uses a credit card through PayPal there is a 2.9% charge taken from the money sent to you. As far as shipping, FEDEX, UPS work great but depending on weight USPS Flat Rate Box works great.

I do not have a problem trusting members here or apparently them trusting me. I trust their descriptions of their gear and have not been disappointed. I am finished buying until one of my d-500's goes belly up but when it does I will look here first for a replacement.
