    Syke's Monkey

While visiting friends in Nairobi, we spent time in the Arboretum which is in the heart of the city. While we were wandering through the property, we spotted a troupe of Syke's Monkeys. We only had a few minutes to watch and take photographs. These are two of my favorite images from that encounter.

    Plains zebras

Seeing male zebras on the run or fighting with each other for dominance is truly memorable. These images were taken in the Serengeti during a trip to Africa in February 2023.

High/Highest fps - Challenges of Recording Behaviour

We hear recurring debates about the costs vs benefits of high frame rates. Pertinently for wildlife genres, are high frame rates only relevant to bird photographers? Are they necessary for large mammals, for example, considering these subject tend to more relatively slowly? Perhaps not...

    African Stone Chat

Last week we went for a little break away and I got up early at a spot that looked like it would be good for birding and I was amazed at how many species I managed to spot there! The African stone chat is a beautiful little bird that I had on my list of birds I really want to photograph for the...

    The Hunter

One morning in Samburu (Kenya) this cheetah crossed our path. It was clear it was looking for prey. As cheetahs try to find an elevated spot from which they have a good overview in the bush, we anticipated it would go to the only elevated landmark we could see, drove there and waited for her...

    Lady Lady

This lioness was totally relaxed, grooming herself and dozing off in our presence. When she took a moment’s break from grooming she looked straight in my lens while a noise from her pride on her right distracted her. I loved the concentrated gaze on the one hand and the confused look on the...

    Matriarch

Hi This is my first tentative post here, I'm curious about to see how active you all are and how it all works :) Female elephants live together in a matriarchal clan, consisting of a mother with her grown-up daughters and all of their offspring. Whenever they sense danger, the adults...
