While I have said that my favorite subjects for my wildlife photography are parrots in the wild, I have surprised myself by finding other subjects that I really like. Amongst these subjects are raptors, especially falcons and owls. So here is a photo of a Great Gray Owl juvenile that was perched out in the open on a rainy day. I think it was still hoping that, despite the weather, one of its parents would stop by with some food. Great Gray Owls are one of the largest, if not the largest, owls based on length, but they don't even make it into the top 10 based on weight, as at least one quarter of their visible size is made up of feathers, needed for insulation in their harsh, cold northern range.
