Adobe Subscription Plans price changes

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

And here is the announcement from Adobe yesterday.

Interesting to read the 2025 Lightroom Classic Preview: New Features and Improvements for Photographers
  • Faster Culling
  • More Power, Precision and Time Saved with AI

he Changed to the yearly plan.
This is the biggest thing people should do AND if you don't have a plan you can't get the 20gb one soon.

  • The 20GB Photography Plan will not be available to new subscribers after January 15th, so if you haven’t subscribed yet, you still have time to jump on board. (And if you’re already subscribed, don’t let your subscription expire, as you won’t be able to resubscribe to that plan.)

i was already on the yearly plan, but i decided to change from the photo 20GB plan to the lr 1TB plan as i don't use PS and i do find the cloud stuff useful at times.

hopefully that wasn't a dumb move, i guess time will tell.

I'm paid up through the end of 2026 on the 1 TB plan at $99/year through sporadic deals at NewEgg.com. I have never needed the 1TB option, so I wonder if I'm going to get stung by the discontinuance of the 20GB plan when I need to resubscribe in 2027?

I think it depends how you use the cloud storage.

I have been using the sync feature on LRc, only syncing my working set. I can't remember if you select if you want the full image synced or not, but the way I'm doing it, it only sends the smart preview to the cloud instead of the whole image.

As a result, I haven't needed much storage atm. This works OK for some things (like making edits), but I find it inadequate to cull or do final reviews.

I suspect if I sent the full image those things might work OK, and I do want to play with that a bit, but I'm in the middle of a project, so I haven't gotten around to it.

OTOH, if you want to sync the whole images, 20GB is going to vanish real quick I think.

Soo... Previously, I suspected the 1TB LR plan didn't include LRc. One of the youtube videos suggested it did which prompted me to change.
Whell... it doesn't. I had to change back to the 20GB Photography plan.
To clarify, all current subscribers to the Lightroom 1 TB plan via adobe.com will get Lightroom Classic on January 15th, 2025.

(Disclaimer - I work on the Lightroom team at Adobe)

so basically to lock in the lower rate on the lr 1tb plan, i'd basically have to switch on the 14th since once i switch i can't use lrc until the changes take place on the 15th?

I just checked on my Adobe account (below). It says I have the "annual plan, prepaid".......so I guess I don't need to do anything, right?

I work at Adobe on the Lightroom team and would like to look into this with you. I tried PMing you, but can't because I have a new account. Could you PM me so that we can continue this conversation offline? Thank you!

Perhaps you should just PM Brian to discuss your situation.
Hi Karen, it seems like a detail everyone would be interested in, but I can if that's what folks prefer.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Which plan do are you currently subscribed to?
I switched from the annual Photo 20GB plan to the annual LR 1TB plan, but then LRc says it's not authorized under that plan.

I will admit, the description of the LR 1TB plan does not say LRc is available. I only switched because one of the Youtube guys was suggesting it was.

Upon it not working (and I did log out and log back in), I switched back to the annual Photo 20GB plan and all is well again.

If you're saying LRc will _become_ available under the LR 1TB plan starting Jan 15 and I want to lock in the current rate, it implies I need to switch plans before the 15th, at which time I wouldn't have access to LRc until the 15th, so I'd want to do it something like the 14th?

I just switched to the annual payment plan at the same price paid up front. No problems. I do not use the 20GB I currently have so it all works for me and I keep the PS/LrC that I like now.

No problem. I just thought that you might need to provide Brian with more personal information so he could look up your personal account.

Ok, I think I understand your premise. So here's the thing: regardless of whether you are a new or returning subscriber to the Lightroom 1 TB plan on or after Jan 15th, if you opt for the annual Pay Up Front method, you will pay $119.88 USD, which is the equivalent of the current monthly rate of $9.99 USD. The only change would be if you switch to the Lightroom 1 TB plan after Jan 15th and select the monthly pay option, in which case you'd pay $11.99/mo USD.

So yes, you can remain on the Creative Cloud Photography 20 GB plan and access LrC, and then switch to the LR 1 TB plan on/after Jan 15th and continue to access it. And if you choose to pay annually up front, you'll pay the equivalent of the current monthly rate.

Also, keep in mind that if you switch from the Creative Cloud Photography 20 GB plan to the Lightroom 1 TB plan after January 15th, 2025, you will not be able to return to the CCP 20 plan.

Does that clarify things?
