Adobes future credit charges

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Where are you coming up with triple the price? I pay $9.99/month for the Photograph Plan and if I chose the Firefly Standard plan that's another $9.99/month or equivalent $8.33/month if I paid the one-time yearly rate of $99.99.

As for your credits used/available, open your Adobe Account page that you'll find a link to in the "Help" tab of your App, Click Manage My Account, then when your account page opens, at the top right, click your profile photo or the circle there next to the bell and grid icons and it will open this window that shows your credits. It may be that the standard Photography Plan will include 250 credits at no charge on an ongoing basis without buying one of the Firefly plans, but not known for sure.

$9.99 to $29.99 is triple the price! I know about the screen but it does not tell you anywhere how many you go beyond that number

We have varying opinions on the subject and that’s fine. I think whenever a person is paying a subscription, they should have access to everything within that subscription and nothing is going to change my mind on that. I enjoy the Adobe programs and I’ve used them for many years. I’ve never really minded paying the subscription because it always gave me access to the latest and great software, so that’s what I expect in the subscription is to get the latest and greatest.
Our subscription covers the processing we do on our computers. The credits only apply when the processing is done on Adobe's computers. They are effectively saving us the cost of the much more powerful computers we would have to buy in order to do the processing Adobe does for us.

You mention DXO. It is my preferred raw convertor. But just purchasing DXO Photolab does not give you everything you need to use Photolab to its full potential. Some features which I would expect from a modern raw processor require Filmpack (£130) and some require Viewpoint (£100), both at extra cost. And the annual upgrades to keep it updated are £99 for Photolab, which is getting close to Adobe's subscription level, £70 for Filmpack and £60 for Viewpoint. Discounts are usually available at certain times of year, but the overall cost of keeping the full DXO package updated is a lot more than the annual subscription to Adobe's cheapest photography plan which gives you LR and PS. Of course, we do not need to upgrade each year, but with the Adobe subscription upgrades are included.

In comparison, the cost of credits for using Adobe's servers is a bargain.

I totally understand all of this and will be aware of how much it's being used in the future. I have a high end Mac that's plenty capable of doing most anything so I will use the credits only when necessary.

? How do you get $29.99 by adding $9.99 and $9.99???

As for going beyond that number, for now, it doesn't matter...at some point in the future when it does matter I believe I read that it would still work, but processing would be slowed until your next reset date or you'd have to either upgrade to the next level or buy more credits. Not sure that detail has been decided yet...or at least published and for now it's irrelevant.

This is not a existential threat to our existence...try it out, use it and see if it's something that will benefit your photography...if not, continue what you're doing...:)

You posted adobes plan page above that's where I got it!

It is pretty clear what is going to happen here. After Adobe uses all of our data to train its system to the point it believes it can increase the pricing, Adobe will go to a 2 tiered subscription system. The base plan will be the $120 annual plan. It will either have no AI features or include very limited use of the new fancy AI features so as to keep people using them and wanting them so then Adobe can sell the Premium Plan at a higher cost that will include unlimited AI goodies. Is this corporate greed? I suppose it depends on how I feel about the pricing. Personally, I have always found the $120 annual photographer's plan to be an excellent value and if the subscription helps to keep Adobe innovating and releasing new and better products I have no issue with it. Just remember, like all corporations, Adobe exists for one purpose only. Maximize shareholder value. Whether its products are a value for you or you prefer something else, is personal choice.

I think that's precisely the direction this is going

You own an auto body shop and offer a great deal, any dent removed for $50...you bring in a car with 5 dents and want them all removed for the same price because I'm not bringing the car in 5 times??? I think we'd all like to live in your universe! :)
But, you don't pay that auto body shop a monthly subscription amount in order to bring your car in when you need to.

Product managers in the likes of Adobe Apple Microsoft Norton and many other companies monitor end users patterns of usage, then they will adjust adapt introduce products to suit certain market segments.

A) to gain market growth
B) maximize profits where possible and all that's all perfectly fine as it business.

ie: For the low end user it will be a small tool box, for the intermediate level user it may be 3 tool boxes, for the off the dial creative geek graphic designers its the full workshop.

This will take time, that said, currently making a profit, expanding market share is the real objective and a big challenge.

Only an opinion

Where are you folks even seeing this tally of used credits? I use AI generation all the time to fix portrait backgrounds or stray hairs or whatever, so honestly as much as thousands of times per month, and I've never seen anything about credits. I tried looking all through my account on Adobe's site and in the creative cloud program yesterday and I couldn't find anything like the little tally that some were sharing photos of above.

Go into your creative cloud app and click where your picture/avatar is and it brings up the info
