Hi Gordon thanks very much, Im pretty pleased as I think I said earlier it was a grab shot as the bird lifted off as I drew up in the car. I’m not always that ready.....or alert trust me.

Another of likely the same Great Egret that opened this thread. Came across him in the same place as last week, have seen him fishing the same hole two other times so now I've got to figure out how to position myself and perhaps set up a blind near his favorite fishing hole. He flushed as I approached and flew away from me but circled back around and flew past me for a series of quick shots like this one.

Hi everyone - this is my first post since joining the forum .........
hopefully my BIF photos will make the grade...given that i first started photography in early February of 2020 mainly taking landscape photos and somehow i stumbled into Bird photography which at the time left me totally frustrated at not being able to take a sharp Photo and also keep it in focus ,,fast forward a few months with lots of frustration and lots of swear words and literally hundreds of shots later i finally took this photo of which i am very proud ,,,,
this is pretty much straight out of the camera with minimal editing

I wasn't able to get a decent BIF shot with my Canon 5D4 (probably more the user than the camera), but now with the Sony a7R4 I'm starting to get some better shots. Here's a photo of a Red-tailed Hawk diving on a Golden Eagle with the eagle's head feathers messed up and a few feathers in the air... looks like one PO'd eagle

I'm thinking that this is a Red-tailed Hawk. The red tail and the dark patagium are diagnostic. Great photo though.

Photo of a Laughing Gull taken earlier this spring. Z6 300 PF Lens f4 1/2,500 ISO 500
I was lucky enough to get this shot without cropping. The gulls were eating these little circle things that would float to the surface.

Had a Eastern Great Egret fly toward me and turn in front of me this arvo, was a bit late and the light was low. Series with the D850 & 400/2.8 wide open @1/2000 ISO 2-2.5k
