He sees you, too!!This Belted King Fisher just won't let me get any closer. This was pretty heavily cropped but I still enjoyed the fly by!

Yeah, he is giving me a dirty look for trying to hide next to his favorite perchHe sees you, too!!
I caught this great blue heron with a lighting situation that would normally be bad. Early/mid afternoon sun on his back and flying away from the sun. But, the shadows do not reach his head so the head and eyes are well lit, his feet are well lit, and his underside is getting reflections from the water. I did seem to miss critical focus on his head but my main point here was about the lighting! Shot with D500 + 200-500.

The purple and great blue are in different parts of the world and also have slightly different coloring. I am in North American and purple's do not live here. There is a very good summary of herons and egrets at avibirds.com. Thanks for your feedback!I could be wrong but I believe that's a Purple Heron
Like this A LOT Howard - lovely shot!
This is nice, I was able to get only three images in sequence.Manged to follow quite a bit of advice from Steve's "Birds in Flight" book.... just not the "get closer to your subject" suggestion - oh well, at least I got 5 frames of the take off acceptably sharp for a change!View attachment 25233
….however, the wing looks like sheer paper with the water reflected on it - what a great effect.Unfortunately it was windy that morning so the water is not smooth and mirror-like, so not quite the picture I was after unfortunately but getting there. A few more attempts and I'll have the light, the wing position, the sharp eye and the reflection

Thanks! I was quite impressed with myself for panning with it…. Had to join the first and last frames together to “expand the canvas”This is nice, I was able to get only three images in sequence.
That is quite a shot with a TC on a 500pf. I have no been so proficient
Great shot Ira! Would never know you used a tc especially with all the negatives about tc and 500pf.
