Birds in Flight -- Share your BIF Images

Here is a couple photos of one of my favorites, the "Northern Rough-winged Swallow" on the Frenchman Hills River in Central Washington
Much higher keeper rates with the Nikon D500 and 70.0-300.0 mm f/4.5-6.3, cropped

about 5 inches long and very fast, lots of fun trying with mixed results. They seem to enjoy the company as well....

Thank you. I was shooting Continuous High and got lucky with this one shot in the sequence. I love the 200-500 combo with the TC1.4. I have it on most of the time when shooting this lens. At f/8 with the good image quality from the D750 I am comfortable out to ISO 3200 which works most fo the time.

Do you only shot this combo with the center single point? I thought the AF wouldn't be fast enough for BIF.

I generally use single point center for such shots and shoot high-speed continuous. I am not the most steady person so I have a lot of misses on focus. Got lucky here. Tripod was not an option for this shot. I need to yry other focus modes, and will after I re-read Steve’s book.

Love your red thief - I have tried often to nail them in flight, but this one is superb! You had great light on the lammergeier!
