Can't decide between Z6iii and Z8

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I am primarily a landscape/seascape/wildlife, hobby photographer. My passion is shooting sunsets, long exposure seascapes and wildlife. I currently own the Z6 and Z7ii bodies and I’m looking to upgrade to either the Z6iii or the Z8. I’m considering upgrading the Z6 and keeping the Z7ii for the Z6iii or upgrading both to get the Z8. I’m very seldom in a situation where I need two bodies so that’s why I’m okay with upgrading both the old ones. And I figure I can always rent a second body if I need it like when I go to Africa next year. I can’t really keep the Z7ii if I go for the Z8. So what do you all recommend?
Z8 based simply of 45 mp.

In the Z8 you largely have the key elements of both cameras.

Its a no brainier, you all ready have the answers your looking for, the only thing needed is to go out the door and pick up your Z8.

Only an opinion.

For landscapes etc megapixels rule.
I dont see why a Z6iii would be better than your Z7ii no matter how fantastic it is elsewhere.
My favourite camera, the Z8 is a big improvement but perhaps overkill for landscapes...🦘

Again. Thank you all so much for your input and different perspectives. They were all very helpful and gave me a lot to think about. I ended up keeping the Z7ii and buying the Z6iii because of budget constraints and size and weight. I'm sure I'll be happy with my decision and I can upgrade the Z7ii to the Z8 or whichever version of the Z8 will be out at the time I can upgrade. Thanks again and happy shooting!!
Congratulations! You will love that Z6iii. I have one, along with a Z8. Love them both. Enjoy photograny!

Too funny, the timing of this post. Long story short, I had (had... long story) a Z8 - now have a Z6III - love them both. Also a Zf, which is absolutely a keeper (one of my favorite Nikons ever). But I always planned on replacing my original Z8 in the coming year, and now with the uncertainty of tariffs, etc, I feel like it makes sense to jump on this sooner rather than later.

At its current sale price, I'm afraid it might never be this low again. It's a gamble I suppose. I'll decide this week what to do. If go for the Z8, I'll likely post my Z6III for sale here too (comes with MB-N14 and SmallRig L-bracket) if anyone is interested. Amazing camera but 45mp & 24mp seems like the ideal pairing, instead of two 24's. I'll read through this thread now - thanks for posting.

Since you have both a Z6 and a Z7ii, which one do you use the most? If it is the Z7ii, then your answer is a Z8, and keep the Z6 as a spare and for low light photography. If your answer is the Z6, then get the Z6iii, and keep the Z7ii as a spare and for landscape photography.
