Dropped my Z9 on a concrete floor.

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Don't recommend the separate policy rider in these days where insurance companies find reasons to raise rates or cancel like never before.
See the extensive thread on it.

Also note NANPA has a Canadian offering for @ssheipel.

In my mind the main reason for the policy is major theft and major accidents. One can set aside money for the "drop", but no so much the fall in the lake.

wouldn't your reasoning be exactly why you SHOULD keep your camera insurance separate from your house? you don't want to end up in a situation where making a claim on camera gear causes you to lose your homeowners insurance, or cause it to skyrocket

I have my gear covered by a writer on my homeowners policy. I have it mainly for catastrophic loss such as my house burns down I have them covered.

In my 64 trips around the Sun, I have learned insurance companies are very helpful when it comes to accepting your money; however, they are far less helpful when it comes to giving some of that money back to you.

Sorry for the confusion I created. A separate insurance rider will likely cause a similar increase. What you want is separate photography insurance as I describe in the initial post which is generally considered commercial insurance.

gotcha. yeah we're saying the same thing, just mincing words

the main thing is just keep the camera gear completely separate from any home, auto, etc. insurance so that you avoid any chance of premium hikes or having your service cancelled

NANPA rider is around $2.50 per 100. State Farm is about 1/2 that
