Again, it's not me. Check posts #37 and #38.Can you please show me where this is documented in DXO? My screenshots above were from yesterday.
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I can't believe it! Based on the comments--I just tried uploading two HE* files into CP1 (works of coarse) and then Open With DXO PureRaw 4. And it worked! Holey HE* Moley.Again, it's not me. Check posts #37 and #38.
See the link in my Post #37Can you please show me where this is documented in DXO? My screenshots above were from yesterday.
I haven’t been monitoring this thread for a while, so please forgive me parachuting in.Even DXO customer support would not tell me that this would work. And, it appears that the HE* is not and HIF file. Still don't know what that means.
Making that switch is a menu selection under RAW Recording within the Photo Shooting menu. You could add RAW Recording to My Menu. There isn’t an option to add it to the 𝓲 menu or to a button. Is there a way to switch to HE* (from uncompressed RAW) in the Z8 without having to use a menu?
+ If you frequently need that feature, you can assign 'Access top item in My Menu' to a custom button/ i menu. I've tried working with High Efficiency formats myself, but honestly found the drawbacks outweigh the advantages for now, which is why I've gone back to using lossless raw files instead.Making that switch is a menu selection under RAW Recording within the Photo Shooting menu. This makes all the sense in the world...I am switching now to HE* since I can use DXO and because I do not do anything for paid work. I understand from the pros that the difference is minimal-if visible at all. https://bcgforums.com/threads/the-reality-of-nikons-lossless-vs-he-compression.30549/As for any paid work, I'd highly recommend sticking to the lossless format,
MacOS doesn’t display thumbnails for HE/HE* images. There are no other Apple-specific limitations besides that.Check that! Maybe. Apple OS (Sonoma) only supports RAW Lossless not HE*. Everything I use supports HE*. I just need to accept this and not think I need this shortcut for preview.
Agreed.MacOS doesn’t display thumbnails for HE/HE* images. There are no other Apple-specific limitations besides that.
Adobe de noise is already much much faster. I saw a huge difference on a laptop that used to take 10 minutes or more, now takes the same time as DxO pure raw 4.
The link says it won't be realeased until April 15. Do they really expect us to pay now for software and wait a month and a half to use it?
Just saw this....PL8 basically includes PR4. There is no need to have both. PL8 is a 'full fledged' PE application. I'm sure there will be an update to PL something after PR5 is released as the PR5 technology will have additive differences--according to DXO.I have been using PL since version 3, currently on PL8
I am however still unclear as to the differential in target markets between the two programs???
Yes, your summary IMO is correct in that the released 'features' between the two sort of leapfrog each other in their next paid releases. It is a pity that what promoted as significant changes are only ever 'attached' to major releases rather than free dot updates.Just saw this....PL8 basically includes PR4. As I understand it from people who received the notification by email, DeepPRIME 3 is a free upgrade for PhotoLab owners. As always, their site is very obscure and not very informative, so I couldn't find that reference online. Perhaps it's buried somewhere in an FAQ. I saw this quote several times in different forums, so I suppose it's legit.Yes, your summary IMO is correct in that the released 'features' between the two sort of leapfrog each other in their next paid releases. It could be argued that PL is their flagship program compared to PR i.e. why is it that PL is behind in its development cycle?
In regard to 'target market sector' the cynic in me infers that DxO see PR as a bigger market than PL hence the primary development on it.
PS by way of compassion, Affinity Photo gets some significant updated functionality within dot releases.
DeepPRIME 3 has been trained on a dataset ten times larger than its predecessor and leverages our exclusive database of over 100,000 DxO Modules, ensuring an unprecedented level of image quality. Additionally, we are unveiling a technology preview of DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans (beta), bringing our most advanced noise reduction technology to X-Trans sensors for the first time.
Both innovations will be available in the upcoming DxO PureRAW 5 and will soon be integrated into DxO PhotoLab as a free upgrade
That probably means Photolab 9, which will be paid, not a free upgrade to Photolab 8. I have no problem paying a few dollars for upgrades, we already have many $ sunk into gear, cheaping out on software is not the way to go.As I understand it from people who received the notification by email, DeepPRIME 3 is a free upgrade for PhotoLab owners. The other updates are specific to PureRAW, so I don't think both products need simultaneous updates. It's usually safer from a development and support point of view to stagger product updates.
EDIT: You can see confirmation of the above in this press release: https://forum.dxo.com/uploads/short-url/e9ayqcHzcsbEby7Bt1Mgh7EDbJG.pdf: "Both DeepPRIME 3 and DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans (beta) will be available as part of version 5 of DxO’s unique RAW preprocessing software PureRAW and will also be available in the coming weeks in DxO PhotoLab, the industry-leading full RAW editing solution, as a free upgrade."

Hmmm? they do tend to introduce such feature improvements on version updates. That probably means Photolab 9, not a free upgrade to Photolab 8.

However, the Press Release is dated February and said/stated the inclusion on PL would happen in weeks, whereas v9 is likely, if it follows the schedule seen before, to be released in September onwards.......and that is many months not weeks away![]()
Well, that's what they said in their announcements, but I don't know their way of doing business. Have they lied in the past, that you doubt it?I hope it is free, I am a PL8 user.
