DxO PureRAW 5

Well, that's what they said in their announcements, but I don't know their way of doing business. Have they lied in the past, that you doubt it?
I guess we will have to wait and see. And, in my opinion, the ? is not if they 'lied', but how one interprets their marketing. False advertising is illegal in the US; both State & Federal.
It appears that PL8 will not be upgraded to include PR5's new denoising controls. See the link below first and then read about PR5.
Check this out for PL8..notice that it does not and will not include PR5's DeepPrime 3 and Fuji X-Trans '3'.
This does not mean that DXO cannot do this in the future, but it is clear that purchasing it now or currently using it; does not and DXO is not announcing that it will be included.

The announcement didn't say free, just that it would be included in Photolab in the future. I think you are reading between the lines. They've been an honest company in my experience.

It says "free" in both the quote and the press release PDF.

I'm really surprised; are my posts so unclear that people keep misreading them?

I'll have to reread what you posted, I don't see where the new features from pureraw 5 will be free in photolab.

This confusion is why I haven't been interested in DXO in the past. Hard to discern what version has what and when you might have to upgrade one to get new features added to the other. Some have it sorted out, but my brain becomes XOD (crossed off dead) when I try to sort it out.

The page linked page is the "here is our new version 8, enjoy" sort of putting out there.....

Most of the 'dot' releases are in regard to bug fixes and new supported cameras and IIRC very rarely if ever feature updates/improvements....this alone was why I said that PR and PL tend to leapfrog the development and additions of features ~ in this case that PR5 has DeepPRIME3 and not yet PL.

I feel like posting a query on the DxO community forum their thoughts about the aforementioned press release and the promised(?) DeepPRIME3 for, on the face of PL8 ???

It's not confusing. If you want to keep using lightroom but like the dxo denoise, the lens corrections, and like their raw conversion then pureraw it is. If you want it to also do editing similar to lightroom, then Photolab it is.

If Adobe would put more effort into making Lightroom's Denoise faster I would not need DXO but as others have stated paying £70 or $80 approximately to upgrade I will stick with version 4 along side the original Topaz Denoise that does IMO a good job on the lower ISO images and is also faster than Lightroom's denoise.
Sounds more like a computer issue. LRC runs denoise on 45mp file in 4-8 seconds for me. Topaz PAI is just about the same.

I have Mac mini M2 with 16GB ram and an additional T/B storage drive attached via a Satechi Stand & Hub and all my images are kept on that drive leaving the main drive to run software. Russ.

Do you have a separate GPU? I'm not familiar with Macs, but AI software (at least LRC and Topaz) is very much dependent upon the graphics processor far more than CPU speed or RAM. Prior to my current computer (separate GPU w/ 12GB of video RAM), I had one with sizeable storage and RAM, but the graphics were onboard and it took LRC denoise 73 minutes to do a D850 file at 45MB; it won't even run Topaz.

To all questioning if the new DeepPRIME 3 will go into PL8 for free, this was in a news release dated Feb 27, 2025 that DXO email me.

"Both DeepPRIME 3 and DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans (beta) will be available as part of version 5 of
DxO’s unique RAW preprocessing software PureRAW and will also be available in the coming
weeks in DxO PhotoLab, the industry-leading full RAW editing solution, as a free upgrade."

Sure clear to me that they are committing to including it free in the coming weeks.

Update: Reply from DXO to my Support ? if PureRaw5 features, including DeepPrime3 will be included as a free upgrade to PL8.

Greetings,

The noise reduction functions DeepPRIME 3 and DeepPRIME XD3 X-Trans BETA are part of DxO PureRAW 5 only at this time. We have not been advised yet as to the timeline for integration into DxO PhotoLab, and within which version. Once we have further information, we will update our website.

regards,

Well, they had already said earlier they'd provide that feature as a free PL8 upgrade in the coming weeks (I gave the references in a post). I don't expect any other news from them until it's released, and right now they must be quite busy with PureRAW 5.
