Love the sand in this one. Adds some interest not normally seen like this.
Crabs, crabs, crabs… and yet more crabs of the 'sand bubbler' variety (species Scopimera inflata) which abound on mudflats of Australia's Pacific coast.

In this photo — taken last year in the southern section of Moreton Bay — you can see the same little spat-out balls scattered over the tidal flats. Of course, I wasn't paying any more attention to crustacean detritus then than I was this morning!

Growing up in California, we just called them sand crabs. For you they’re bird lures.
Another photo that just happens to have bubbler crab 'balls' in it. Dare I add that where man and dog were enjoying themselves is a feeding area for endangered migratory shorebirds.

Each crab would be smaller than the man's big toe. (My non-scientific way of measuring!)
