I loose 95% shots during slow shutter for birds, helos and turboprops. . . :(

@Imtiaz I forgot to share these ... we had a fun motion blur slow shutter speed and panning as an assigned photo subject in our camera club last year ... here are some of my shots.View attachment 15155View attachment 15156View attachment 15157View attachment 15158

Stunning pictures, Ken.

The exposures look so nice and good in your pictures.
How many stops were you over exposing? and what time of the day was it?
Tell me about the lighting conditions...

Do you confirm your exposure with picture or histogram?
How often do you look at such pictures to confirm the exposure you like.

Please tell me...

Cheers,
Imtiyaz

When shooting action I seldom have time to confirm but do so before with test shot if practical and after. I have image review set to come up after every shot and restrict it to see the histogram and the "blinkies". Yes I am a histogram watcher and trust it but not the image on the camera screen. I shot the 4 images I shared along with many others over a couple of weeks in February 2020 these were on 2 consecutive days. All shot here in Boise, Idaho so a low angle of sun that time of year and from other shots the 2 days these were shot on it appears to have been sunny. All 4 with Nikon D500 and Tamron 150-600 G2 all in Manual with auto ISO and all center weighted metering. I used varying settings depending on the light, the subject and the effect trying to get. In order the single Goldeneye 2-10-20 at 11:48 AM, panning fast (which blurs the water, focal length 600mm, 0 EV so no over exposure, ISO 250, 1/1000 sec. (gives wing blur on these fast little ducks) f/6.3. Canada Goose on takeoff, 2-11-20 at 6:31 PM, panning slower, 210mm focal length, OEV so no over exposure, ISO 200, 1/40 sec, f/16. Canada Goose fly by 2-11-20 at 6:35 PM panning quickly, 210mm focal length, panning medium speed, OEV so no overexposure, ISO400, 1/40 sec, f/16. Goldeneye floc 2-11-20 at 7:08 PM OEV so no overexposure, ISO 900, 1/40 sec, f/8. I hope this helps.
