Now I know this is an impossible idea ,how can anybody say what their favourite bird is? My favourite bird is usually the one I'm photographing at the time. However, the Spotted 'Dusky' Redshank, Tringa Erythropus, has a place in my heart. When I first went to the Arctic in 2005 I had a list of birds I wanted to photograph at the nest, e.g. the Dusky, Waxwing, Snow Bunting, Dotterel, Whimbrel, Shore Lark, Bar Tailed Godwit, the list goes on. I managed to photograph all bar the Dusky on my various trips up there. It took me five trips and driving a total of about 20,000 miles from the UK to Lapland, using Fuji film for the first two trips, before I got the shot I wanted, a Dusky returning to the nest. Now the first photo here is not brilliant but it is hanging on my wall, I'm sure you'll all understand why. Let's see some photos of your favourite birds and perhaps an explanation of why they take a place in your heart.
