I love the detail in the second shot. I think I should start to save up for a1 and 200-600. They look like an amazing combo.I just got my new Sony 200-600mm lens in the mail Friday, so the next day around 5pm I went for a walk.
Green Heron. This bird was a first for me, since Montreal is near ithe most northern limit of its summer range.

This next pic was cropped to 4k (3840x2160) to match a BenQ SW321C which I hope to get in the mail next Thursday. Its a small bird, but I was quite close.

This is what happens when you have your perched bird setting when the bird takes off. This is an 'artistic' pic.

I am firmly convinced that the 200-600 is much better for birding than the 100-400 with a 1.4x teleconverter. The 200-600 is heavier, but still ok for handholding. I used a monopod while sitting on a bench -lazy birding.I love the detail in the second shot. I think I should start to save up for a1 and 200-600. They look like an amazing combo.
A couple more...Great Blue Heron. This one got too close - a common problem in wildlife photography. I had to zoom out and step back a couple meters to focus (in retrospect I may have set my focus limiter to 10m to infinity).
