Were those shot from a tripod? 600mm at 1/60 sec?
Monopod, while sitting on a bench. The bird was quite still, so I took some pics with a slow shutter, low ISO as well as most at 1/500s. The 1/60s turned out with no camera shake. Image stabilization was on. For birds-in-flight, I might use 1/2500s, manual with auto-ISO, handheld with no IS.

That is very impressive, both the camera and the shooter!
 
Took this one a while ago, Far Eastern Curlews at the hight time roost in Toorbul, Queensland.
