Magnetic filter options

I have never used the magnetic filters, not only because they are expensive, but I fear that the filter might fall off if I inadvertently brush it against any object. I also fear that a magnet close to any gadget that has electronics in it, is not a good idea. My fears may be baseless as the magnetic components would be far away from the body (which has electronics in it). This thought has always plagued me. Can someone with a knowledge of electronics put me at ease? Thank you.
In My opinion these aren’t that expensive in kit. Most of my filters cost between $150-200 each. This kit was $500 ($400 on sale) for 4 filters, ring mount and case. At least for me they were a bargain. I actually shook my camera with one on and it didn’t budge. I wouldn’t walk around with camera on my hip with one on but they are so easy to mount I personally don’t believe it will be an issue. I can’t speak to science about magnets but if they caused problems I’m sure internet would be full of complaints about them.

I seldom use filters but still have Breakthrough Photography protective UV, ND and CPL filters that fit all of the Z lenses I have including the 800pf.

I know that Breakthrough discontinued their original magnetic filters which I never tried and are in the process of developing new ones. I just signed up to be notified when the new system is available.

Here is something I did not know until read a post and just tried it -- the Aluminium Nisi lens hood I bought for the 14-24/2.8, which does not leak light and is a perfect pair for 112mm circular filters and the Kase Wolverine Magnetic filters - CPL, ND, Night/Light Pollution etc, ALSO fits and works perfectly on the Z24-70/2.8S, Z70-200/2.8S and the Z50/1.2S -- any lens that has a leaf hood and an 82mm filter thread, which means I can use the same filters on every one of these as well. WOW what a win.

Never had an issue walking around with the filter on. Normally I'll cover the ND or CPL with the magnetic lens cap and walk around until needed and remove the magnetic lens cap. I've stacked the CPL and the ND filter and no issues either. Bought the kit for my largest diameter lens and then step up rings for those lenses whose filter diameters were smaller. So far no issue.

Thanks, everyone! I just got out the Z 14-24 and all the pieces. I put the magnetic ring on the larger hood and will keep the 10 stop filter in the bag ready for use.

The 2 hoods and caps for the Z 14-24 require more bag storage space that the F mount 14-24! UGH!

My carry bag used to hold the F mount 70-200/2.8, 24-70 f2.8 and 14-24 lenses plus a body. Great for walking around town, cathedrals, etc. But now I realize that my "carry" bag will not hold the extra hoods and cap. I may have to add an extra pouch on the outside of my bag.

Always something.......! 😥

I only carry one hood and one lens cap. All the rest live in the box the lense came with.
The problem is the Nikon Hood with the filter ring lets in light. Which I why folk like me advise buying the Nisi replacement hood, which is made from aluminum. AND if you go for the Kase Wolverine Magnetic Filters also buy their 112mm lens cap so that you do not need to also carry the Nikon Lens cap -- I do and put the lens in a lenscoat hoodi to reduce the risk of damage..
