Mr Jan Gear lens carrier for my 600mm TC lens

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I use the Mr. Jan Gear with a Z8 paired with the 400 f/4.5 and the 800 f/6.3 pf. It is great with both. I've been able to hike for miles with this setup. The 800 is a bit tougher to remove quickly with the hood on.

It should be noted that a feature that allows you to remove the back section to clip the harness to a backpack can also result in the straps coming loose unintentionally, usually at the time you are putting the harness on. Be sure to check the strap connections before loading your gear. I've suggested to the folks at Mr. Jan Gear that they redesign this feature (perhaps they already have, as I've owned mine for a couple of years).
Security was one of the reasons I used the think tank racing harness and belt instead of the harness that came with my carrier. I used it with the D6 and 600 f/4E you can see in the photos above. It was very fast to deploy. You will see I used the nikon lens strap attached to the lens and to the carrier as a safety strap. I reached in and grabbed the henjar lens collar foot with my right hand as I unclipped and dropped the front of the carrier with my left. I then just placed the lens collar foot in the palm of my left hand and my right hand gripped the camera in shooting mode.

It was not as fast as just lifting the lens up by the foot with my right hand and placing the foot in my left palm as my right goes into shooting position when attached to my Holdfast Gear solo strap that I use to carry my Z9 and Z800 f/6.3. For me the MrJan Gear long lens carrier is over kill and slower for the Z9/Z800.

I have a Z600 f/4 TC coming as a loaner from PS for the first couple of weeks in November and may try out the MrJan Gear with it.
