GPSLooking at my Z9's firmware, I see a "G 0.17" - what is that for? I couldn't see anything in the Nikon manuals - I get the "C" for camera and "L" for lens.
If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

No one seems to understand. I dont want to use a separate card for RAW and Jpeg ( ie the RAW + Jpeg option in the menu). Lets say I am shooting RAW and I have only 1 Flashcard inserted and now I am running out of card space. To save space can I switch to jPEG? Another example: I am shooting RAW and want to do some pre focus which only supports Jpeg- can I switch WITHIN the same card from RAW to Jpeg? Hope that explains itI'm completely lost. You want to shoot raw plus jpeg, but not enable the camera to shoot raw plus jpg? Just...enable the option and send it all to card one. I'm not sure what you're asking here.
I think you are getting my question. Is that possible?Just guessing but maybe he wants captured images going to different folders on the same card; jpg images to one folder and NEF files to a different folder.

Thanks so much. That answers my question. So important to explain the question as best as possible
- In what format you save your pictures is defined by your settings, the size of JPG and NEF can be defined in that setting
- JPG and NEF can go on the same card
Don’t think we’ll get 6.0

I'm with you on this; I think we're due any week now (within calendar Q1) for a pre launch announcement of a new flagship (official launch in early fall; delivery of a hand full before year's end), unless Nikon has abandoned it's cycle (disrupted as it was by the blip of the D6/Z9 transition). Mind when I've suggested that in the past all I got was laugh emojis LOLDon’t think we’ll get 6.0

We're currently in Nikon's Q4 and I don't expect any development or pre-launch announcement of a new flagship camera until Nikon's upcoming fiscal year, which begins in April. What I expect before April is something related to video (availability of the new lens and perhaps Z mount on some RED cameras) so that they can highlight it in their Annual Report.I'm with you on this; I think we're due any week now (within calendar Q1) for a pre launch announcement of a new flagship (official launch in early fall; delivery of a hand full before year's end), unless Nikon has abandoned it's cycle (disrupted as it was by the blip of the D6/Z9 transition). A possible exception might be the 35 f1.2S, announced before the end of March but with its sales kicking off in the next financial year. We're currently in Nikon's Q4 and I don't expect any development or pre-launch announcement of a new flagship camera until Nikon's upcoming fiscal year, which begins in April. Possibly, but that doesn’t seem to be noteworthy beyond it being extremely delayed. Regardless, I don’t think it’s going to drive an outsized amount of revenue. I wonder if there has been a technical problem of some kind, perhaps with production or even the basic optical design? Last I heard from anyone at Nikon about it (Sept 2024) it was still planned for release.A possible exception might be the 35 f1.2S, announced before the end of March but with its sales kicking off in the next financial year.
My only issue is that we still haven't gotten ashutter sound...

Nikon positions the status of firmware updates as fundamental, if not crucial, in its overall strategy of the Imaging Division. Since 2019, they have changed how they evaluate customer feedback to identify new features added to improve the Z cameras
Executives have underscored this in interviews.
The most recent explanations, earlier this year, by Mitsuteru Hino, Head of UX Planning, Imaging Business Unit are particularly revealing, pertinently
"....At the end of 2021, we launched the Nikon Z 9. Since its launch, we have had three major firmware updates, v2.00, v3.00, and v4.00. The v2.00 firmware update was already planned. But for v3.00 and v4.00, most of the items reflected customer requests or feedback....."
The above statement was a few weeks before v5.00 was released
