Nikon Z9 Teaser 3 AF tracking box fake (digitally added)

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Tacky Clickbait kicks off another Conspiracy Theory.... But, perhaps, until this thread, some of us had made unrealistic assumptions on high standards of this BCG forum.
Unfortunate abseil from a platform of reality.

The mature and final words on this were published some days ago:

“One (now) Sony user who’s a key influencer went so far as to posit that Nikon was lying about how sticky the focus system was because the displays in the teaser videos had to be faked. Faked or not, how sticky and how good the focus system is can only be ascertained by testing, not by confirmation bias guessing. Given that this particular influencer has long criticized the Z System focus abilities—despite the fact that the Z6 II was arguably better than the A7 Mark III at the time he made some of those remarks—his recent comments seemed like a desperate attempt to validate his deteriorating viewpoint. Or as it is called: click bait.” [emphasis added]

I care. Being mislead is a sure way to give me a case of redass
Sony added fake AF boxes in post also, in one of their videos. It’s simply a marketing strategy, doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. I’m sure your A1 performs fantastically, regardless of whether Sony added fake AF boxes in a video. Same thing here with the Z9.

Then you shouldn't have let yourself be misled: It's just advertising. I learned long ago not to listen to hype by manufacturers - if I did, I'd probably have a Sony or Canon.

I ordered the camera because the specs are close enough to I want, and I have enough confidence in Nikon to believe it will deliver a lot of camera, once again. My only concern is the reliance on an electronic shutter alone - I cross my fingers, and hope the camera delivers.

As if Thom Hogan isn't brand loyal.
Hogan uses all three major brands, but obviously has a lot invested in Nikon because he's written the best books on how its cameras operate, but he has openly criticized all of Nikon's missteps or deficiencies over the years [read his books on how the cameras operate]. In this instance, he was spot on in his critique of Jared, the click bait and self-promotion king.

I am pretty confident I've never gotten an email from Hogan unrelated to a book I've ordered from him, yet he's long had my email address. And, as I said above, he's been more than generous in pointing out Nikon's flaws and suggest improvements, and he covers both Canon and Nikon pretty thoroughly, and writes on many different brands of lenses for all mounts. The only commercial thing I've found about his online presence is a request that the viewer shop through his link to B&H. If having a blog and useable website is self-promoting, what can I say?
