Excellent collection, beauifull photography, the quality and composition is perfect, it validates that 80/90% of what we get comes from you the photographer, regardless of the tools used.It's getting towards the end of the year and I thought it would be fun to post some of our best / favorite shots from the last twelve months. Only post images you captured this year and please keep it to eight photos or less (I know, it's tough if it's been a busy year). I can't wait to see what you captured. Fantastic bunch of images !!! I was getting ready to pick a few of my favorite BIF shots this afternoon ... that did not happen ... when I had a New Years Eve guest show up on a light fixture on the patio of an apartment accross from ours. Grabbed my camera and it became my last bird ID subject of 2022. Western Screech Owl.
My favorite not a water bird in the water shot ... Sharp-shinned Hawk
And finally my favorite low light no edit photo for 2022 Wood Ducks are always one of my favorites

The story behind that shot looks incredible. My friend and I meet the Ibex on the way back for a 12km hike.
The hike started with a sunny day, then slight rain and sun again; then, walking back to the car, we were hit by a snowstorm which lasted about twenty minutes.
Just enough time to take amazing photos that turned a dull day into something extraordinary.

Paging though a little late on this post as it’s now 1/1/23. Really, so great images! I will try to post a few here and hope it works. Most of my wildlife images are taken locally at the IN Dunes National Park.

Wildlife favourites. The big problem with selection is often the most memorable moments may reflect the encounter rather than the photograph itself. Here are a few highlights:
An arctic fox in Svalbard - taken from a rocking boat using a 500mm lens and cropped..
Polar bear in Svalbard. I have close up portrait shots but these better represent his activity:
Several days on Mull were spent watching this mother care for her young family:
Finally some magical hours watching short-eared owls in horrible light:
There were many more lovely encounters both big and small - in my garden and in South Africa - maybe a second shortlist to follow!

Great set of photos of one place of my dream. I lost an occasion to visit Svalbard the last year, and now I'm the first person on a waiting list for a trip in 2024.

Ladies and gentlemen…I can safely say that there are a *lot* of really excellent images here…many are from places I’ve been but now tha5 we are no longer traveling full time in the RV my subjects are are somewhat limited to birds and landscapes in SW FL…we love the weather here but I still wish we lived in the mountains out west someplace…but neither of us are winter/snow aficionados at all.
