The francolin was almost paralysed, probably because of anaphylactic shock. The hawk' claws were planted deep and, after landing, he began pulling the feathers of the still conscious francolin. So it is with life in nature.

At first, I wanted the photo to include more, but after a few moments with it, I realize that the omission of most of the predator makes the shot even better.
