Thank you for your comment.Awesome images, post a picture of the bat hawk?
It may not be a bat hawk. Confirmation in progress.Click on the - Full size here link at the bottom of the photo - then use the arrow to see the full size and other images.
Thank you for your comment DanThat is quite an emotional shot. Can almost read the bird's mind through that eye. Well done.
Many thanks for your identification Marc. I have changed the name in the tags and in the post #1.To see a Bat Hawk*, during the day is a rarity, let alone with prey in it's talons is just the cherry on top, well documented.
*Looking at this closely tells me it's an African Hawk Eagle, not Bat Hawk unfortunately, but still a fine sequence.
The difference is feathers on the feet, (meaning a true Eagle not Hawk), a distinct bright yellow eye, (small black iris) and black chest w/white throat markings, also distinctive white band above and below eye. Also the overall size difference, with a Bat Hawk quite a bit smaller in profile.
Robin, see post #32 pleaseStunning shot !!
Please tell me if I’m wrong but looking at the size aspect and those talons look more like a (Martial) Eagle ?
Thank you for your comment. Focusing on the action is the purpose of the framing. Even on the original picture, I only have part of the raptor. At first, I wanted the photo to include more, but after a few moments with it, I realize that the omission of most of the predator makes the shot even better.
