Z8 and Nikon 800 f/6.3 focus issue

Just got the lens and was doing some test shots at home. Regardless of the AF Area mode selected, single or multiple frame, the focus point in the viewfinder shifts to the right after the shot. It does not hold. VR off-on-sport didn't make a difference.


Tested the same with a Nikon 24-120 4 S and the focus point remains locked on the point selected. With that being said, seemingly it's something unique to the 800. Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated.

New lens? Sounds weird. Doesn't happen with mine. Send it back?
