Backyard Wildlife photos

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

That link gives a very good image of the immature bird and it is damn near identical to yours.

I hear ya only problem is I got Coopers Hawk photos that look like that too LOL

I thought I would share this here since we all share the same interest in our back yard birds and critters.
For many here it is nothing new but for me I was very excited to be chosen for the National Audubon Society Bird from Home gallery.
Our backyard Quail is towards the top sharing the stage with a White-crowned Sparrow.

Congrats Hut! That's really cool, not to mention a really nice shot.

Behaviorally, it seems like a Coopers - backyard hunting.

Could you tell if it seemed a bit smaller & thinner? Coopers are on the small side, comparatively speaking - at least "in my experience". ;-)

Oh yeah they like our bird feeders. 70-80% of Raptors die before reaching adulthood, many die of starvation.

Are you talking about "city dwellers"?
All Raptors
*I saw a post the other day that 70% of Cooper's Hawks die of starvation in their first year, so I googled it and learned 70-80% of all raptors in the wild die before adulthood.
